Moonlighter? Get A Virtual Office

Most professionals in Nairobi have side jobs.

Moonlighting

The most desirable situation would be where our jobs provide for all our needs, but finances and  one’s career strategy may force them to take up a moonlighting gig.

There’s another group of professionals that are just starting out, and work from home as they build up revenues so they can afford an office.

These businesses have had difficulty maintaining a professional look, because they don’t have the staff, or even a premises from which to conduct their business. Enter two players (maybe there are more) that have solved this problem in such a fantastic way.

ESBC and Horizon’s Offices have brought the virtual office concept to the market which I think is excellent. As the Horizon website says, you get to ‘project the image of a big business without the costs’. I believe image is important, more so for a growing business, but one doesn’t have to invest in an office till they’re ready.

I visited Horizons Office and got to hear about their product. For a reasonable fee (less than what you would pay a receptionist), you get the following services for your business:

  • A business address where all your mail is dropped
  • Telephone services where the receptionist answers in your business name
  • Courier services
  • Email and SMS forwarding

In addition to this, you pay an additional fee and get to use the boardroom for meetings with clients, and that 1 month you’re on leave, you can rent an office or a work station and actually work from there.

Genius? I think So!
